This last week, our "A Litter" turned twelve weeks old! I cannot believe how fast the time has sped on by! It truly feels like yesterday that Logan & I were waiting anxiously at Jezebel's ultrasound appointment to see if we were going to become "grandparents"! I will always remember the rush of absolute joy that came when our veterinarian confirmed that Jezebel was pregnant! Immediately after this appointment, we spent the next few weeks getting everything perfectly ready for the arrival of her beautiful puppies! At Jezebel's radiograph & puppy count appointment, I remember being excited and so surprised when we found out that she was going to have such a large litter - eight puppies! It was amazing to see Jezebel's belly grow each and every week and to feel the puppies moving towards the end of her gestation. When Jezebel's due date came around, I remember being so anxious for the puppies to finally be here and when she did go into labor, I was thrilled! Jezebel's whelp went really smoothly! At the end we couldn't believe that our little baby girl, Jezy, was a momma! She quickly became a natural and loved caring for her puppies! She was just as spunky as ever and loved alerting us if anyone came near the house or yard. Her protection instincts have always been spectacular and it was amazing to see them naturally at work while she was a new mom. The pups grew so quickly! Before we knew it, their eyes opened, they began to take their first real steps, started playing with each other and Jezy, and demanded to explore the world outside of the nest. It was so fun to watch these new puppies out exploring our house and discovering their world was a lot bigger than they thought. As the continued to grow, we continued to be humbled. What a sweet and precious gift it was to raise these babies along side Jezy and to watch them continually progress and grow up. It seemed that before we even took a breath that they started eating kibble, were working on potty training, learning commands, and going to their forever homes. It was hard to see each one leave, but it was such a joy to see each pup perfectly paired with their forever companion of an owner! I am so thankful for the opportunity and privilege to raise Doberman puppies. It truly is a passion and dream come true! As our first Doberman as a couple, Jezebel was the first one that we went through the entire process with. We were there when she was born, we raised her ourselves, and we loved her more than we could ever imagine possible. Although we have so much breeding experience, it was a completely different feeling than I was used to when our Jezebel was bred. It wasn't just that our dog was pregnant, but it was that our pride, joy, and baby girl was going to be a momma! It was incredible to imagine that we going to care for and love not just any babies, but her babies. The weight of the responsibility of producing the next generation of Dobermans from dogs we had not only known, but loved and cherished. was immense. But the joy was beautiful! Our "A Litter" didn't start at the ultrasound confirmation, but when Logan & I pledged to each other to follow our hearts and dreams together when we were married. As we planned our "Foundation Bitch" and picked out the breeding that would produce Jezebel, our plans were set in motion. Our "A Litter" came from much love between us and our Jezebel, much patience as we trained her to be our definition of the perfect dog, much laughter as we grew as a couple along side her growing from a puppy to an adult, and much devotion and loyalty as we all became inseparable. Then repeating the process with much more patience and laughter with our Rudolf. In truth, our "A Litter" was a result of so much more than a simple breeding and the puppies produced are much more than just an average Doberman puppy. With our "A Litter" behind us, we are filled with so many emotions! I often wish that we could turn back the clock and help rotate nursing puppies, snuggle them and give them lots of kisses, and watch them take in the world for the first time. Overall, the main emotion felt is gratitude. Gratitude for Jezebel. Gratitude for having the opportunity to raise Jezebel and to be her mom. Gratitude to her for letting me go through this first time mom experience with her. Gratitude to have been responsible for eight little Doberman babies. Gratitude for each puppy's loving owner and family. And gratitude for this beautiful gift of life. We cannot wait to do it all over again and are excited for not only our future, but the future of our precious Dobermans because they are one in the same! We are excited to continue this forever journey with our two "A Litter" additions - Anastasia & Novella Jr.! Twelve Week Update! This last week, we took Anastasia & Novella to the vet for their 12 week check-up! Our vet couldn't believe how beautiful they were, the perfection of their coats, their great temperaments, their stellar obedience and high food drive for treats, and their confidence! Both girls received not only a great review from the vet on their personalities, but an excellent review on their health! We are so proud to have produced and raised such amazing pups! As always, we would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have regarding our dogs, puppies, or breeding practices! Please contract us!
Summer 2016 was full of fun! Had a fantastic litter, added two new members to our family, and discovered a new family day spot!
We are often asked what our motivations are behind breeding Dobermans and love answering this question! 1. To Share the Doberman Bond with OthersOur motivation for breeding Dobermans starts with our relationship with our dogs. The companionship, devotion, intelligence, and drive our dogs have is something that we need to share with others. 2. To Fulfill Our Dream as a CoupleLogan and I met through Dobermans and quickly become friends through a mutual Doberman mentor. After growing individually with the breed, our friendship became something more. As we in love, we planned what our life together would look like with Dobermans right in the center of it all. Logan and I often talked late into the night about what we wanted our breeding program to be, what our goals were, what we wanted in our foundation bitch, how we were to raise our dogs and puppies, what training opportunities to pursue, what dog shows we would attend, and everything in between. With our mentor, we planned the litter that would change our lives. At the same time, we were planning our wedding where our mentor would marry us. Just days after being married, our Jezebel was whelped and we ran right into marriage while also running into Doberman puppyhood, and we couldn't have been happier about it! Dobermans are a part of our lives as individuals, but they are a large part of our marriage and who we are as a couple. We like to say that we truly fell in love with the breed right along side falling in love with each other and we wouldn't have it any other way! 3. To Continue the TraditionOur goal in breeding is to produce dogs who meet the breed's original purpose and follow the breed's tradition. This includes breeding Dobermans with the purpose of personal protection in mind, focusing on sound and balanced temperaments capable of both work and companionship, and breeding to the original breed standard with cropped ears and docked tails. The Doberman breed is changing a lot in many parts of the world. Typically, American bred dogs are bred to be soft. Their temperaments and physicality make them unable to perform the breed's original working functions including personal protection. Many European countries are breeding dogs to have natural ears and long tails, this is slowly changing the whole body style and face of the Doberman. In general, we are seeing a decline in great traditional Dobermans and we want to change that. 4. To Better the BreedWe believe the perfect Doberman has three basic traits: 1) proper confirmation, 2) natural working drive, and 3) a balanced temperament. To better the breed, we have the goal to 1) follow the Doberman breed's confirmation standards and produce Dobermans who confirmation-ally, are as close to perfection as possible, 2) keep the Doberman's working drive alive in its temperament and create puppies who are capable and willing to perform the breed's original working purpose, and 3) strengthen the balance of temperament and socialization of the Doberman to produce the best working and companion dog. We have many goals in breeding and are determined to produce dogs that exceed what the Doberman currently is. We want a bright future for the breed and the only way we can get there is through good breeding today. As always, we would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have regarding our dogs, puppies, or breeding practices! Please contract us!
After last week's adventure to Lake Tugaloo, Logan and I have been looking forward to going back! Yesterday, we decided to take everyone to the lake and we had a blast! We were the only ones at the lake and we were able to explore much more of the area! It was all so beautiful! We took a short walk around this portion of the lake and enjoyed the different plants, trees, and even grasses that were present on this part of the lake versus where we last week! There is so much to do, explore, and enjoy at this lake! The pups enjoyed wrestling, chasing, and exploring all of their surroundings! They did an excellent job with off-leash recall! We were also able to work on some group obedience which was wonderful! In between sessions of fetch, Jezy loved keeping an eye on her pups and encouraging them to get in the water. It has been so fun to watch the pups & Jezy together. The pups love their momma and their little tails wagging when they see her prove it and make us smile! All of the dogs absolutely loved the water! This was Adonis & Augustus' first time in the water and they were so brave! By the end of the day, Adonis and Augustus loved swimming! It was so fun to see them so determined to get to their destination and to swim along to get there! The pups loved being able to romp around and play with each other in such a fun place for the whole afternoon! We took out everyone's posts and all ears were looking wonderful! Everyone's ears are so unique to them and are healing beautifully! We are so happy with their ears and are excited to see so much progress in such a short period of time! All four pups have special relationships with one another. Adonis loves his sisters and is so sweet to them. Augustus is always ready to play and loves giving everyone kisses. The girls are already bonded so fiercely to one another and their dynamic is so fun to watch! We had such a relaxing and enjoyable day! We packed a lunch and snacks and spent most of the day just having a ball at the lake! We were so glad we were able to go on this adventure with Adonis & Augustus and hope that they have many more adventures like this with their future owners & families! As always, we would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have regarding our dogs, puppies, or breeding practices! Please contract us!
This is our first summer in Georgia and we have been so surprised by the level of heat and humidity! In the evenings, we love taking the dogs on our local hiking trails and we have been wanting to explore more of the state, but the heat has made it such a challenge! We were finally able to have an official all-day adventure this past Tuesday when the temperature was bearable! We woke up early, packed the car, got our "girls" ready (Ana, Vella, and Jezy), and traveled to Northeastern Georgia to find some beauty and have some fun! The boys (Rudy, Gus, and Adonis) were dropped off for a fun day at daycare where they were able to socialize with other dogs! Tallulah Gorge State Park
This was the first time Ana & Vella had been on a formal hike and they loved it! They did a great job keeping up and following Jezy! There were so many different sights and smells and the pups were thrilled with their new surroundings! Since the park was empty, we were even able to work on some off leash training and recall! At the top, Ana & Vella were able to experience heights for the first time as they safely were held by their daddy to look over into the beautiful gorge! Ana and Vella were lovely hiking girls on the way down and were ready for a nap by the time we reached the car. We are so proud of them! Overall, Ana and Vella were very brave, adventurous, curious, and enthusiastic about the whole experience and we all had a marvelous time hiking! Lake TugalooWe were disappointed that Tallulah Gorge State Park does not allow dogs along the beach or in the water. We really wanted Ana and Vella to experience water for the first time. so we looked for a place close by and found Lake Tugaloo!
Logan quickly got in the water and started playing fetch with Jezy while I watched over Ana and Vella on the shore. Jezy was so excited to play fetch, cool off, and splash around! Ana & Vella took everything in and decided that they would try the water out too! Ana & Vella were fascinated watching Jezy swim and hearing daddy calling for them! We weren't expecting Ana and Vella to be so enthusiastic for their first time in the water! But they quickly got soaked and we took off their hats so they could continue to play and get soaking wet! I cannot believe how fearless our two girls are! They have exceeded our expectations in every way possible! We are so in love with them that we cannot stand it! They were absolutely perfect puppies for our adventure day!

One of my absolute favorite questions to answer is "Why Dobermans?". Whether it is a friend wondering why my family consists of one of the most stereotyped breeds, a potential buyer inquiring about our breeding practices, a fellow dog handler at a confirmation event, or even a stranger who has seen us training or playing on the field, I am always happy to answer why Dobermans are our chosen breed! 1. Breed PurposeThe Doberman is the only breed to have been specifically bred for personal protection. This specific breeding purpose not only makes the Doberman unique, but is the reason why the Doberman is the best candidate for a companion dog. In order for the Doberman to succeed in its original purpose and duty as a personal protector, the Doberman must bond deeply with its owner. Without a strong bond, the Doberman would not be able or willing to perform its protection duty with the required determination and enthusiasm. The bond between Doberman and owner naturally drives the dog to need to protect the owner. This bond often goes as far as the dog being willing to sacrifice its own life for the owner if necessary. The intense bond between Doberman and owner is a characteristic specific to the Doberman breed and is our foremost reason we have chosen the Doberman as our breed of choice. 2. TemperamentUnlike other working breeds, the Doberman needs and thrives on human interaction. This bond between Doberman and owner is the driving force behind the Doberman's overall temperament. The balanced temperament of the Doberman is our second reason for pursuing this breed. The Doberman is equally affectionate and social while also cautious and protective. With the proper training opportunities, the Doberman can become a well-adjusted canine member of society as well as the protector of its loved ones. The Doberman is able to distinguish between friend and threat. The Doberman is also able to make decisions for him/herself on how to respond to each type of situation. This high level of intelligence makes the Doberman a reliably trustworthy dog. The Doberman's intelligence makes training come natural and allows for high levels of training to be accomplished. The Doberman is diverse in training opportunities with potential to: participate in Rally or Agility Events, be trained in the protection sport of Schutzhund, become a registered therapy or service dog, learn Search and Rescue (SAR) skills, master how to properly hunt small game or accurately dock dive, or participate in Confirmation Events. The Doberman is passionate, determined to please, and thrives on praise. The Doberman's greatest pleasure is receiving the attention and affection from its owner. The Doberman's overall dedicated, loving, and attachable personality makes the Doberman a uniquely suited companion dog. 3. DriveThe Doberman is an incredibly driven breed. This drive is what is responsible for their ability to learn advanced skills and to continuously be engaged in performing a job. The Doberman is happiest when it has a specific job to perform, even if that job is just protecting the house by being aware of what's going on inside and outside of it. The Doberman's drive is what makes the Doberman a high energy breed. This high energy allows the Doberman to be an excellent running companion, a great retriever to play fetch or frisbee, an impressive hiker and swimmer, and a great candidate for all types of dog sports! The Doberman's drive is balanced in that the Doberman requires a bout of exercise and then is content to spending the rest of the day relaxing with his/her owner. The balance in drive is our third reason for choosing the Doberman. 4. EleganceThe Doberman is stunning in appearance! The Doberman is beautifully elegant with a level top-line, defined angles, square head, and rich coloring. The Doberman has a deep chest, lovely bone, strong muscles, and excellent angles. The Doberman has an expressive face, deeply soulful eyes, and attentive ears. The overall balance of the Doberman makes this breed one of the most beautiful and is our fourth reason for choosing the breed! 5. HistoryThe Doberman's history is rich and unique. From the breed's intended purpose as a personal protector of a mailman to the stereotype of an aggressive and to be feared dog, the history makes for an excellent companion along side the breed. The diverse history makes the breed interesting and is our fifth reason for choosing the Doberman. 6. PhysicalityThe physicality of the Doberman makes for a powerful, yet agile dog. The Doberman is well muscled with great bone structure, an impressive jaw, and powerful movement. The Doberman is quick in movement, has excellent endurance, and is incredibly strong. This physicality of the Doberman allows the breed to perform its intended purpose of personal protection and allows for a dog with lots of potential which is why it is our sixth reason in pursuing the Doberman. 7. PuppyhoodStarting at birth, the Doberman is unique from other breeds. The Doberman puppy is attentive, intelligent, curious, confident, playful, and sometimes even naughty. This combination of traits makes for a puppy who is trainable, mold-able, and more importantly, a joy to raise! The Doberman puppy forms immediate attachments and the bond between owner and puppy is strong from the start. Raising Doberman puppies is a unique experience with the highest reward of ending with a perfect companion dog like no other! The unique puppyhood of the Doberman is our last reason for choosing the breed and dedicating our lives to bettering it!
