Cochran mill fun with colter and the family

One of the activities we miss the most as a family when Nichole is pregnant is hiking together! Now that Penelope has been born, we saddled up and went for a long overdue hike!

Trying to get Colter standing for a good photo
We didn't hike too far, but Cochran Mill's best known photography site (the end of the waterfall seen in the above photo of Colter (our prized European Doberman Stud)), is fairly close to the trailhead.

Colter is such a good boy on leash. Of all the European Dobermans I've handled over the years, he's the most attentive and careful on leash. He's developing into such a powerful, but sweet boy. He's everything we were looking for in an import, and we really lucked out. Especially considering that he was most likely one of the last direct imports since March 2020 when airlines started their animal shipping embargo.
After the waterfall fairly near at the trailhead, we went down one the gravel trail to the next trailheads. We chose the orange trail which is a little more difficult, but I was looking for an older, small dam that I though would be good for photos. It ended up being further away than I remembered, so it will have to wait until next time! Overall we only hiked probably 1/2 a mile or so, but with Penelope being so young, and Nichole having given birth so recently, we didn't want to push it.

This was our first time trying out the Forrest's carrier on my back, and it work splendidly! He wasn't as comfortable as the front, but it was MUCH more comfortable for me. Penelope obviously slept the whole time, and Forrest was snoozing for the last leg of getting back to the car.

Penelope nice and snug at 7 days old.

Forrest snug but not as comfortable at 15 months.
If you're looking for a Doberman Stud, Colter is available! Check out our stud page for more information if interested.
